Invite Shell to chat

UPDATE: Shell have just announced via Twitter that they'll be scheduling a webchat on this topic. Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to ask them to engage with us, and stay tuned for updates; this is just a first step!

Let's pile on the pressure to get Shell talking about human rights in the Niger Delta.

Shell say they were one of the first large global organisations to welcome questions from their customers. Let's test if they're still listening by asking for a public debate on their site Shell Dialogues about their human rights practices in the Niger Delta.

We're going to try contacting them using Twitter. This is a great forum for us to approach them as it means that what we're asking is public, for us, our friends, and the rest of the world to see. More importantly, so are their responses.

So, in the spirit of open dialogue and conversation you need to:

  • Log in to or create your Twitter account
  • Start your message to Shell with '@shelldotcom' to ensure they see it
  • Ask them to schedule a web chat on their site on the topic of Shell's human rights record in the Niger Delta

Here's an example of what your tweet might looks like (but feel free to get more creative!):
