Call on the Burmese government to release three activists jailed after a peaceful protest
Take action
In 2008, three leading youth group members were arrested in Burma. They were each sentenced to over 30 years in prison for organising a protest that involved sailing paper boats.
The three men, Khun Bedu, Khun Kawrio and Khun Dee De were arrested for organising a protest at which local dissidents released balloons, launched paper boats and spray-painted walls with their peaceful political messages.
For these simple acts of defiance they were sentenced to between 35 and 37 years in prison. The campaign was against a proposed new constitution which, among other things, outlaws freedom of speech and all but guarantees the continuation of the Junta military leadership.
Call on the Burmese authorities to release these men immediately.
