Campaigns: 50 years of Amnesty International
Take a trip to the theatre and see what it's like to be an asylum seeker journeying to the UK.
The Young Vic in association with Amnesty International presents the award-winning play The Container
The Container is about asylum and racial and religious persecution. Performed to just 28 audience members who are locked inside a shipping container, it provides the vivid experience asylum seekers must endure to reach our country.
The Container exemplifies creative activism by highlighting the vulnerability of asylum seekers travelling to the UK.
It was the hit of the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe, winning a Scotsman Fringe First and Amnesty's Freedom of expression award. Working together with Amnesty, the Young Vic have made it possible for London to share the experience.
