Campaigns: Arts & Events for Amnesty
The press are not allowed to report freely in Gambia. Ebrima b. Manneh is just one of many detained journalists.
Journalist Ebrima B. Manneh was arrested in July 2006 and has been held incommunicado and without trial ever since, even though a West African regional court has called for his release. He recieved special recognition at Amnesty's 2009 Media Awards as a journalist under threat, yet we still don't where he is.
His case is indicitive of the press crackdown that has taken place in Gambia over the last few years and it's vital we keep the pressure on so that all Gambian journalists are free to report without fear for their freedom and safety.
Send a letter and make sure you're standing up for free speech in Gambia.
