The 10th of December marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is a big day for Amnesty, and more importantly, for everyone who stands up for human rights worldwide.

On their birthday we are not only celebrating these rights, but we want to shout about them, be proud of them and ensure that they continue to be recognised by a global community. Here are just a few ways in which you can help get the message out:

  • Upload a video, photo, or piece of art answering the question 'What do human rights mean to you?' on Flickr or YouTube and be part of a global conversation
  • Share our short film You Are Powerful by embedding it on your blog, MySpace page, or website, or by sending it to your friends
  • Find time to attend one of our Fire Up! events which are happening across the UK
  • Use your Facebook status to spread the word and say '(Your name) is saying Happy Birthday to human rights. Join in at http://protectthehuman.com/udhr'
  • Head to our UDHR campaign centre right here on Protect the Human, watch some films, take action and start talking to like-minded users
