Bringing human rights issues to a mainstream audience is vital and the arts play an enormous role in doing this.
Through film, photography, music, fashion, art, comedy, theatre and literature we put the human stories behind the reports of human rights abuses at the heart of public consciousness, bringing voices to voiceless.
Amnesty + arts = a natural connection
Since the First Secret Policeman's Ball in 1979, artists have put themselves on the line for us - just as they know that we are the first to put ourselves on the line for comedians, artists, dissidents and ordinary people around the world.

I'm now watching it for the 2nd time, its still amazingly funny!
What a brilliant night! Catch it on Channel4 tonight - Eddie Izzard was a genius as usual. And Shappi Khorsandi kicks ass, she's smart.

The lovely Russell Howard is the delightful and very pretty young chap from Mock the Week
Who is this Russell Howard and is he related to the horrible Michael Howard?

Get the DVD of the last one in 2006- it was ace; really good night out, good money for a good cause and worth remembering with the DVD. Looking forward to this year- two tickets in the standing area! Woop Woop!
I have the vinyl album from the original ball.
Why is it called the Secret Policeman's Ball? Does anybody know?
I saw a record of the old ball in a record shop. Wish I'd bought it now. Oh well.
Is Eddie Izzard on the bill? He's always brilliant.
When do the tickets go on sale? Need to get some this year!
I can't wait for the Ball to start!
