About at Mshairi

Source: http://www.mshairi.com/blog/

I am a Kenyan mshairi (poet in Kiswahili) living in the UK dreaming of a time when the cultural, legal and political obstacles that prevent African women attaining economic independence and equality are eradicated. I would like to see the development of gender-sensitive ICT policies leading to more African women accessing and using these technologies. My interests are world music, poetry, books, art, love, movies, life, Africa, gender activism.

OldGreg's thoughts:

I find the particular focus on Africa really interesting in this blog - mshairi gives a really interesting perspective on poetry, art and political issues... a great mix because, as they say the personal is political in art...
