Mainland human rights activists say they feel encouraged by a report that prominent dissident Hu Jia is among the frontrunners for this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

Veteran Aids activist Wan Yanhai said the prestigious award would give much-needed recognition to Hu, his wife Zeng Jinyan, and his family.

If he wins it should make it more difficult to keep Hu in jail..the way the chinese government have been acting though, they may well extend his sentence...we will see in the next few days
