In this document Amnesty International calls on the UN General Assembly, 62nd session, (2007) to adopt a resolution affirming the right to life and stating that abolition of the death penalty is essential for the protection of human rights and to report on the implementation of the moratorium to the next session of the UNGA.

It also calls on retentionist countries to establish a moratorium on executions and to respect international standards that guarantee the protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty.

  • People in future will judge us by our actions like how we judge the savages during dark ages or Mayas who practiced human sacrifice, they will tell to their children “back then in 21 century still governments legally kill its citizens and they did define it as justice. In some countries they would sentence people to death under some religious courts like old Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Emirates and etc. and in some other countries they would sentence people to death under civil and criminal law”…what a funny civilizations!
