Imagine this. You go to the airport to collect your other half but he doesn't come off his flight. He doesn't answer his mobile. The airline can't tell you anything. The police say they know nothing. Four months and dozens of calls later, you discover he was arrested before boarding the plane and imprisoned. You aren't told why. You do not see your partner for more than two years when he is unexpectedly released, uncharged and untried. There is no explanation, no apology.
