Urgent action for individuals

Ensuring individuals are not denied their human rights is at the heart of everything we do. Help us take action for individuals at risk.

Individuals at risk of violations of their human rights are at the heart of our work.

In the five decades since Amnesty was founded, we have taken action together on behalf of prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders and the "disappeared". We have also campaigned on behalf of many other individuals at risk of unfair trials, torture, house demolitions, denial of the right to education, and other violations of international human rights and humanitarian law

Now it's time for you to add your voice and help us protects those individuals at risk.

Urgent action for individuals

I've just looked at your site for the first time today and I have to congratulate you on the great work!

Shell are an absolute disgrace, loading their director's bank accounts with millions of dollars at the expense of the quality of life of the people of Nigeria (and some might even argue the political stability of the country). That is even without considering the impact that the company has on climate change which is affecting millions of people worldwide! Companies such as Shell whose operations cause more problems for humanity than benefits should be stripped of the right to operate - simple as.

To be honest I mostly feel like a lone voice in the crowd, as people seem to go about their daily lives filled with the advertising and propaganda of rich companies. It is a huge shame that people are largely unaware of the real impacts of irresponsible businesses and unwilling to do anything to force them to change.

Looking at some of the action taken by people on this site gives me ecouragement that there are still lots of people out there who actually care about what happens in the world and are willing to do something to change it.
