Sprout and Spring widgets were good although not free / easy to use anymore. But I've managed to create a few Amnesty widget to display actions, news and events. You can embed them on your website to get the latest from Amnesty. http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryI...
I've found out recently about Yahoo! pipes it's free but a bit struggling to make the widgets looks pretty... http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/
it's not really a human rights theme... but I've seen this cool #uksnow map where you can see people tweeting about snow on a map of the UK http://uksnow.benmarsh.co.uk/
I think it's great. I'd like to be able to create this type of thing. Anyone's got a geeky tip?
