Sign the petition for gender equality in Iran

A supporter of the campaign for equality in Iran

Campaigns: 50 years of Amnesty International

The Campaign for Equality aims to collect one million signatures to a petition demanding an end to legal discrimination against women.

Women in Iran face widespread discrimination under law. Evidence given by a woman in court is considered only worth half that given by a man. A girl under the age of 13 can be forced to marry a much older man if her father permits it.

They do not have equal rights with men in:

  • marriage

  • divorce

  • child custody

  • inheritance

The Campaign for Equality was launched in Iran in 2006 and aims to collect one million signatures to a petition demanding an end to legal discrimination against women. Sign the petition for gender equaltiy and stop legal discrimination against women in Iran.

Please note: Those of you who wish to take action on the Campaign for Equality website and sign the petition online may find sometimes the link to the website is not working. Please be patient and keep trying. The authorities in Iran are continually attempting to disrupt the connection to the Campaign for Equality pages but it usually comes back up - this is the reality of campaigning for human rights and freedom of expression in Iran at the moment.
