'Homosexuality is a disease' says Turkish minister
Minister Kavaf is just a politician and is not in a place to comment on this issue.

i reacently cut someone out of my life when i found out how homophobic their view were. i was shocked that such a genuinely nice guy could be so vilely prejudiced. his views were replusive and so narrow minded and prejudiced. i dont think he really thought i would react, i mean he didnt think his view would hurt anyone.

However my violent reaction made him rethink his views and he has become much more accepting,so now we are friends again. The whole experience made me want to change the worlds veiws on homosexuals, i just dont know how yet. but im only 15 so im sure i will find a way...
This is sad in this day and age and I believe the Minister requires treatment for Homophobia. In Zimbabwe the President and the Prime Minister calls homosexuals and lesbians "worse than dogs". I suppose Kavaf, Mugabe and Tsvangirai are the Three Musketeers who forget that people have rights and homosexuality is one such right.
Amazing to think how much opposition there is to love. Anyway what defines love, there is no right and wrong.....
Simply emotions, natural instincts, why be stopped?
Scary that old fashioned and such closed minded views till exist.
2008 was a great success! roll on 2009!
I knew it!! That picture of King Billy my Grannie had on her wall??? You could just tell by his pose on his horse and that head of hair oo la la :-)
Actually, I rather agree with the poster who commented in response that this is an "off" article. I did not read Obama's gay reference as a specific highlighting of pro-gay-ness (is that a word?) which is the tilt of the article. Rather it was an inclusive statement that all people are one and all are americans and he will represent them all.
I utterly hope that inclusiveness does prevail and the evolving ban on gay marriages come to an end (California alone approved it yesterday). I'm also extremely chipper & hopeful that Obama will be the one to promote difference. But the article did go a little overboard and focused on one word being present, instead of the whole context. Still, it kicked up some debate and that can only be a good thing! :-)
