I read this on The Register last week, and agree very well with Vint Cerf's point. I have tremendous respect for him as a technology innovator, and unlike some in the IT field his perspective on what's important and what's not has not been swayed by the giddy spin of today's digital world.
"It is a mistake to place any particular technology in this exalted category [of human rights], since over time we will end up valuing the wrong things," he says.
