  • It is the military junta's fear that keeps Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest. They have an army of half a million and still they are not free from fear.

  • We are free. She is not. We are free. The people of Burma are not. We are a democratic people. They are not. Human rights are ignored. Ours are not.

We must help in any way we can to be part of a successful conclusion to the freedom of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners.

I have the freedom to write my views. The Burmese people do not.

The current situation there has to be changed by peaceful means.

The Burmese people chose Aung San Suu Kyi to lead their country democratically. The Junta crushed that vote and those who supported democracy.

This video is a very good one. I hope it is presented to every democratic government asking for their support.

  • It helps me to recogonise the glorious and precious but fragile thing that liberty is - what I and so many others take for granted. It is a gift from our forebears and she is like the women of the world who won it for us all. Thank you Aung San Suu Kyi. I will speak for you and Burma.

  • Aung San Suu Kyi deserves her freedom as do the Burmese people.

  • Please can you make it easy to post videos like this on Facebook and other networking sites. Thank you.

  • Aung San Suu Kyi has the power to change . That's what makes her so dangerous to those to oppose her.

  • Suu Kyi often talks of people becoming used to living in fear - we accept it, assume we can't do anything about it. Fear becomes a habit, a way of life, and the military junta in Burma knows this and utilises it. We need to cultivate 'Freedom From Fear'; courage has to become our first response. If we, in our own country, feared our government, we would end up in the same position as Burma's people. We must never - never - accept fear as the norm. It MUST be made unacceptable, always.

  • It is DISGRACEFUL that in a time where the world is MEANT to be democratic, that this is still being done to people just because they have no monetrery power to to stop it. It is also DISGUSTING that a woman such as Aung San Suu Kyi are being seperated from their families and friends, just because they make a noise, make a fuss, make the world aware of what is going on outside it's comfortable little box, where we can pretend that people are suffering no matter who they are! I amplore anyone to take a look at the video displayed here and DARE to say, NO MORE should these people be treated this way!!

SamSam's thoughts:

Aung San Suu Kyi has committed no crime. As one of the founders of the National League for Democracy and the winner of the 1990 general election, she is being held in detention simply because of her political activities and peaceful opposition to the military regime that controls Burma.
