Once again the USA have made the decision to ignore the lack of evidence to support the conviction of one of it's death row prisoners. Of course, it is right and proper that we should be campaigning NOW to try to prevent yet another state sanctioned murder. However, while the death penalty remains a possibility on the statute books of ANY country, there is still work to be done.
Troy and his family are in my prayers but as the State Governor of Georgia clearly believes that HE is God, I am not sure we will win this battle.

The decision of the Supreme Court to refuse to overturn this clearly unsafe conviction and barbarous sentence is unintelligible and tragic. Presumably the Governor of Georgia still has the power to pardon this probably innocent man before his state kills him. If he has any sense of justice, he really must do so.

How can we call ourselves civilized when we live in a world where legalized murder is carried out so often. Murder is murder. A court giving credence to the taking of life is no justification.
I have tried to put myself in the mind of someone waiting on death-row, it is impossible to do, too much to comprehend. The torment and mental anguish must be unbearable, that in itself is torture enough.
The death penalty must be abolished, then maybe we can feel a little more comfortable when we refer to ourselves as civilized.
My thoughts and prayers are with those on death row, and their families and friends x

All civilised countries believe that life is sacred and must not be taken. This is reflected in the laws of these countries. Where I find difficulty is trying to understand these same countries' penal codes that state murder warrants execution. So is life so scared after all?
The death penalty can NEVER be justified. Any person who accepts the sanctity of life can not agree with executions. There have been so many cases where it has later been proved that some of those executed were found to be innocent. One wrong death is one too many. That is just one side of the argument. The other is how life is valued.

I can't sleep. I can't get Troy Davis out of my mind. I just can't understand how in 2008 they can still execute someone in the USA. Especially
when there is so much doubt that the person committed the crime.
The United Stated of America needs to truly wake up and see that this so-called free country is nothing but a reality show, run by the elites, the government and the media.
They keep us focused on fake news, sports, reality shows and all the propaganda they can throw at as. Meanwhile, there's a young man about to be murdered for a crime that he probably did not commit. But, do we here about this man in the news? Why, of course not. It's more important to hear about Lindsey Lohan's take on Sarah Palin. GOD!
So, I was in bed and I closed my eyes and asked why? Why is Troy Davis being
executed. Yes, there's a cover-up. No doubt in my mind that they just don't want to admit that they are wrong.
So, they will murder him on September 23, 2008.
My eyes were closed and I tried to think of myself as Troy Davis. I'm sitting in my cell, definitely not sleeping and thinking about a few hours from now receiving a needle that will take me from here to nothing. Nothing's a scary place as I felt for that moment. I had to stop because it was so empty.
Troy must be wondering what we are doing. Are we going to help him or just let those monsters take him alive. There are people trying to help. The numbers in this case are outstanding. We have contacted everyone we can from the
White house, to the parole board, to the media etc, etc, etc.
Even Jimmy Carter believes he is innocent and called for stay of execution for Troy.
Think about it for a second with your eyes closed. You're in a room, tied to a chair and someone will shoot you with an injection and take away your body, your hear and your mind! SNAP!!! You are gone.
We need to abolish the death penalty.
This is why:
False confessions, mistaken eyewitness accounts, incompetent counsel and jailhouse snitches are often the cause of an innocent person's conviction.
That is what happened to Troy Davis. What if it was you?
Almost all people accused of death-eligible crimes are impoverished and must rely on court-appointed lawyers to defend them at trial. Minority defendants may be represented by lawyers who are not only incompetent but also openly bigoted. At a minimum, a lack of cultural sensitivity to other ethnic groups may affect their ability to prepare adequately for the case.
More than half the world's countries have abolished the death penalty, including Russia, South Africa, all of Western and most of Eastern Europe.
Abolition of the death penalty is a requirement for admission to the European Union.
The US is only one of two countries (Iran) that continue to execute juveniles. There are 81 juvenile offenders currently on death row in the USA.
Yet so many people still believe in what our country is doing. How can that be?
MEDIA, TELEVISION and the constant mind games that our government plays with us.
"I said then, I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it; while there is a criminal element, I am of it; while there is a soul in prison, I am not free."

One witness, Antoine Williams, a Burger King employee who at the trial identified Davis as the gunman, later said:
"Even today, I know that I could not honestly identify with any certainty who shot the officer that night. I couldn't then either. After the officers talked to me, they gave me a statement and told me to sign it. I signed it. I did not read it because I cannot read.
