Amnesty activists from around 30 countries gathered in Latvia to join Riga Pride 2008 in solidarity with the Mozaika alliance of LGBT people and other LGBT people in Riga, in Latvia and in the Baltic states.

I sometimes try to understand the people opposing the Pride marches, but I find it impossible.To hold onto so much hatred and misunderstanding and to aim it at people who are obviously loving their lives and who are united and proud of it, it makes the opposing protesters look very lonely and pathetic.
It's good to see how upbeat the marchers were, even in the face of such hostility...
