  • Omar Deghayes on Torture and British Intelligence:
Listen to first hand testimony of former Guantánamo detainee describing his interrogation by British Intelligence agent, "Andrew", and others (MI5 and MI6) while held illegally in Pakistan, before being sold into US custody and rendered to Bagram prison in Afghanistan and subjected to torture.

  • What disgusted me more than the scenes of torture in this video, believe it or not, was George W Bush's expression when he said: "These men are killers. They do not share our beliefs."
It would take hours to point out the countless ways in which that statement is not only total hypocrasy, but a terrifying display of this man's lack of cultural education, and total incapacity for empathy for other human beings.
Yes, it is beyond belief. We can only hope that with Bush's days coming to an end, Guantanamo's days are numbered. (One prison down, only a few thousand more worldwide to go.)

  • it's quite breathtaking that a group of zealots could drag the world a hundred years into the past when it comes to the treatment of prisoners. That those zealots are the elected officials of a democratic country like the USA is beyond belief.

Against_Hegemony's thoughts:

The U.S. government has stretched the definition of torture to include practices that have been condemned by the United Nations and global public opinion. This program will explore how U.S. policies can be put on the right track to Stop Torture . The show will feature the impact of torture, public opinion and positive actions that can be taken by concerned individuals.
